Wood Furniture
Product Care + Maintenance
In the first few weeks and months, it's essential to treat your new furniture gently while the finish cures and the wood acclimates to its surroundings. Elements such as light, temperature, and humidity significantly impact the well-being of your furniture. To keep it looking great for many years, please follow our suggested care and cleaning guidelines.

First 30 Days
During the first month, it's essential to avoid harsh chemicals or cleaning products on finished piece. The stain or finish is still setting and curing, so please handle it with care. If cleaning is necessary, use a cloth dampened with plain water, followed by a fresh cloth to dry it completely. Remember to promptly wipe away spills, use placemats and coasters, and protect your furniture from excessive sunlight, heat, and humidity to maintain its beauty.

Standard Care Instructions
Once the curing period is complete, we suggest a straightforward cleaning and care routine for our products. Simply apply a light mixture of mild soap and water using a spray bottle or a damp, soft cloth to gently clean the surface. Afterward, use a fresh, dry towel to remove any excess moisture. This will help maintain the quality and appearance of your piece.

Cutting Boards
CARE & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
1. A minimum of once a month (depending upon the use and household conditions), apply an even coat of Starcross Creations Wood oil to all surfaces of your cutting board using a clean cloth, disposable towel. The more often it is cleaned, the more often it should be oiled. A dry appearance is a sure sign it is time to oil your wood surface. Make sure the cutting board surface is free from any food debris, dirt, oil, or grease before applying the wood oil.
2. Allow the wood oil to fully penetrate through the wood fibers overnight, then wipe off any excess oil. Apply additional wood oil to any visible dry spots or for any other necessary reasons.
3. For additional protection, it is recommended to use Starcorss Creations Wood Butter to seal the wood surface in conjunction with the Wood Oil. Apply an even coat of the Wood Butter using a clean cloth, disposable towel. Leave the Wood Butter to penetrate the wood surface overnight, then wipe off any excess butter.
4. Maintain the same bevel on the edge of your cutting board as it had when purchased. This helps prevent splitting or chipping on the outside of the cutting board.
5. Be sure NEVER to cut continuously on the same surface area. Distribute your cutting over the entire work surface so that it will wear evenly. If your cutting board is reversible, it should be turned over periodically to allow even usage on both work surfaces.
6. Minor scratches can be repaired by sanding the affected area with a fine grit (#200) sandpaper. When sanding, always sand with the grain. If the area needing repaired is located along the edges, lightly sand the edges into the surrounding area. Remove all dust.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Make sure the cutting board surface is free from any food debris, dirt, oil, or grease.
2. With a clean cloth and mild soap and water solution, wipe the top thoroughly until all the debris is removed.
3. Wash out the cloth in clean warm water, wring out, and go over the surface again to remove any remaining soap.
4. Always wash both side to ensure that the board dries evenly on both sides to reduce the risk of warping.
5. Thoroughly wipe all surfaces with a clean dry towel and leave in a vertical position to allow the board to dry evenly on both sides.
CAUTION
• DO NOT allow fresh, wet meats and liquids of any type to stand on the cutting board surface for long periods of time. Brine, water, and blood, contain liquids that soak into the wood, causing the cutting board surface to expand, the wood to soften, and affects the strength of the glued joints.
• DO NOT cut fish or poultry on the cutting board surface unless you have thoroughly followed the care instructions in step #1. The moisture barrier must be intact prior to cutting any type of fish, seafood, or poultry on the countertop surface. ALWAYS CLEAN THE CUTTING BOARD SURFACE THOROUGHLY AFTER CUTTING FISH OR POULTRY.
• DO NOT use a razor-edged cleaver or serrated knife. These may chip or splinter the wood and produce soft spots.
• DO NOT wash your cutting board with harsh detergents of any type. Harsh chemical cleaners may result in permanent damage and discoloration to the surface.
• DO NOT put your cutting boards into the dishwasher or wash your kitchen tools on your cutting board surface.
Epoxy Boards
Cleaning

Wash by hand with a soft cloth or sponge and mild dish soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbers. For stubborn stains, you can try a mixture of warm water and vinegar.
Drying

Dry with a clean dry cloth thoroughly and leave in a vertical position to allow the board to airdry evenly before storing to prevent water spots and bacterial growth on the board.

Avoid dishwasher

Our epoxy resin boards are not dishwasher safe. The dishwashers hot water could cause the board to warp and cause the wood butter to melt off and leave the board unprotected against scratches and bacteria growth.

Avoid submerging

Do not soak the board is water due to, to much water could cause the wood to warp. Dry immediately after using and cleaning the board to reduce the risk of warping and bacteria growth.

Avoid cutting on the epoxy

Even though the epoxy resin we use is food safe we would not recommend cutting on your epoxy resin boards due to the knife marks will easily so and scratch the epoxy and the blade might cause little micro epoxy to end up in your food.

Avoid extreme temperatures

Avoid placing hot pots or pans directly on the board, as this can cause warping or cracking of the epoxy and could cause the wood butter to melt off and eave the board unprotected.

Conditioning

Apply Starcross Creations Wood oil/butter periodically to maintain the wood's characteristics and prevent bacterial growth. You can also apply a small amount of our Wood oil/butter every few months to keep the resin looking shiny.
